Oops! A classic
example of line sag here as the gun will go
in under 5 seconds. (left
to right) Uncle Al (3854) with Peter Ayres
(1191) right to leeward
of him, Peter Rahn (5631) with Keith Haill (grey
boat) almost hidden
from
view behind Peter, Hazel Hewitt (4107) partially
obscuring Ryan
Mahaffey,
Randy Park (3613) with his Sunday crew, Joanne
Kumpf, and Fred Black
(7379)
getting a nice start at the pin on a pretty square
line.

Ivan and Chris
look to be in great shape just seconds after the
gun, although they'll
need to flatten Akvavit to keep getting
the most out of her!
Less
fortunate are Peter Ayres (1191), Roger Shepherd
(7700) and Heider
Funck
(6) who are getting wind leftovers from both Uncle
Al (3854) and Peter
Rahn (5631). Just visible to leeward of Roger
(7700) are: Ryan (7380),
Stefan (16) and Hazel (4107).

Less than a
minute into the race. Already some boats
(Heider [6], Dwight
Aplevich
[4606] and John deBoer [7351]) have found it
prudent to tack, but will
they be able to cross Reg Bunt (7227) who started
late and is movingly
slowly but is on starboard! Off 7227's
bow, Ivan is moving
well
and looks to be in greatr shape. Other visible
starboard tackers are,
from
left to right: Fred, Randy, Hazel, Keith, Stefan
and Roger.
