the 2004 Pumpkin Regatta
Sailing Pics - 3

Saturday: Roger and Joanne roll on down Fanshawe Lake as ...
...

... a spinnaker-less Nick comes reaching across on starboard, intent on destroying Roger's peace of mind.
...

Doug Netherton and Roger Redwin plane away in a gust as they ...
...

... approach mark #1 near the far shore.
...

The beat from #1 to the finish in one of Saturday's races: the Fusion 15s (red hull) made an unimpressive Pumpkin debut as only one of half a dozen entries actually finished one race before they all went home - defeated by Fanshawe - on Saturday afternoon. Too bad, because they missed the benign Sunday conditions!
...

One assumes that this was the Fusion that finished the one race.
...

Brian and Scott (centre) head for a shore break in the lee of the cliff after winning the Saturday opener.
...

Roger is about to take 2nd ahead of Nick.
...

Dolores de Boer welcomes her daughter, Michelle, back to dry land after Uncle Al had taken her swimming.
...

Sanctuary under the cliff ...
...

... was most welcome ...
...

... to us all.
...

Brian (r) and Scott are all set for race 2.
...

Not so, Uncle Al, who managed to take sediment samples from the bottom near mark 4, and decided to clean up ...
...

... the top of his mast and sail before the glue-like mud became rock-solid. Alas, Al ended up losing the irreplaceable main halyard sheave housing during the process. A million thanks to George Blanchard and Nick Seraphinoff who were able to come up with "spares" they have allowed Al to use indefinitely. So - that finished the 2004 Pumpkin sailing for SHADES.
...

But not for Roger (7700), Nick (864) and Len (6732) who are drifting back towards the Fanshawe ...
...

... wind tunnel and race 2. Scott and Brian have just reached the wind line, as have ...
...

... Roger and Joanne.
