Saturday photos
by Hans Schaffner & Uncle Al
Saturday at 0900 hrs, view of Fanshawe Lake looking north from the dam with rain clouds moving in.
...

A slight breeze already present is the only saving grace on this cool morning with a forecast high of 12C.
...

An hour later, the pre-launch dinghy park is already being well watered.
...

After two rainy races and a lunch break, Uncle Al (3854), Jeff Baker (3917) and Bob Kennedy (3571)
head out for race 3 towards the RC barge where Hans Schaffner is now working the CWA camera.
...

Steve Carroll (W6066) cuts a swath through the rain with his Laser 156896 as race 3 nears.
...

Nicely bundled up, Uncle Al (r) and Marc Bennett cruise past the barge on their way to the leeward mark with ...
...

... a healthy lead over the Wayfarer fleet.
...

The battle for 2nd place continues between Richard Johnson (l) and John de Boer.
...

It didn't pour all the time. Sometimes the rain was a bit lighter.
...

After rounding the leeward mark, Al and Marc put off their tack for as long as possible since moving was more uncomfortable!
...

I believe this may be Jens Biskaborn (W7663) running in his Laser
while Al and Marc (3854) remain frozen in position along the east shore.
...

Jacob Marsh and Greg Midgely lead the Laser 2's down the run.
...

John and Dolores de Boer (l) start run #2 after rounding mark B off the Race Hut.
...

Jim MacKenzie and Carleen Hone lead the Y-Flyers into the wind and the rain.
...

The Wayfarers have just begun the 4th and final Saturday race.
...

Wayfarers running from the rain toward the Pumpkin mark on the right.
...

A broken mast spells the end of Saturday racing for this Laser sailor who seems to be taking his misfortune in stride!
...

It was a fast day for SHADES on the runs, quite possibly because Marc and Al were so happy not to have to face into the rain.
