Julie cools off
as the
day has turned sunny and hot but is a lot less humid
than yesterday. ... |
The bar is ... ... |
... open!! ... |
Nick Seraphinoff
has
enjoyed his first Downriver Race ... ... |
... very much. ... |
The Downriver
Race
winners in their speedy International 14 ... ... |
... John Macielag and crew. ... |
Special thanks to
the
RC in the background here: they came by us on their way
in and offered
us a beer!! When was the last time someone on the Race
Committee
offered you a beer??!! Meanwhile, the 14 keeps
looking good and
... ... |
... will be one
of the
first to the bar??? ... |
Oooh! Mike
McNamara
sails on ... ... |
... Frank and
Sarah's
W4270. ... |
Either Sarah
can't
bear
to look as her dad is about to botch the landing, or
she's seen Bill's
camera. ... |
A serious
discussion
of the day's race among the Wayfarers who have found a
nice stretch on
which to beach the boats above the high tide mark - only
about a foot
of difference in high and low water level here. ... |
The new SHADES
team:
Bill Bagwill (l) and Uncle Al ... |
Looks like Bill
has
enjoyed his racing debut. ... |
(l to r) Uncle
Al,
Julie Price and her dad, Nick Seraphinoff ... |
It's the African
Queen. ... |
No, it's one of
our ... ... |
... cruising
Wayfarers
... ... |
Bill Harkins and
Margie McKelvey. ... |
A genuine
Chesapeake
Bay canoe. ... |
How would you
like to
have to keep those solid masts vertical??!! ... |
The RHYC Junior
Club
at work: RHYC
Commodore, Chuck
Parry (not visible above unfortunately), was up
to his waist in the shallow water 100 yards off the
beach, as he used a
bullhorn to
orchestrate a bunch of RHYC Juniors sailing Optis all
around him. Chuck
does a
heck of a lot around RHYC, and that includes teaching
the Juniors five
days a
week all summer. ... |
Surprise! Lee
Cowperthwait, our gracious host, was the bartender on
duty in the
lovely RHYC bar where he ... ... |
... introduced
Bill
and me to Dark and Stormies (rum and ginger
beer) which we
thoroughly enjoyed all weekend long. ... |
Downriver Race
stories
being exchanged at the bar. ... |
Nick and Mary
Seraphinoff (r) took us all out to Waterman's
for ... ... |
... genuine
Maryland
crabs. ... |
It was raining
outside
again but it was warm, and dry under the big top. |
