That's
it, lads! Get those shirts off while you still can.
We'll be back in
the frozen North all too soon! ... |

Our outstanding
Race
Committee with PRO, Jolene Rasmussen, at the bow, looks
for the best place to put a course in the challenging NE winds. ... |
Wall to wall

the last missing touch to a beautiful Lake Wylie. ... |
The line is
set on
boats begin to check in. An interesting wrinkle was
that the order of
starts was flexible, so that we had to be on our toes
and check each
five-minute flag to see if this start was ours. Also
the number of
times around could vary from class to class as
necessary, W1 for once
around, W2 for twice around, etc.. So we had to check
that as well with
each of our starts. The whole thing went very well.
And Jolene didn't
make us wait around: if one class was finished but
another still had a
long way to go, she just sent the class off that was
ready and, I
presume, gave the other class a shorter course if
necessary to let them
catch up and even out the number of races. A very neat
system!

Rumour has it
that
Brian Zimmerman (739) is the current North American
champion in
Vanguards. Thus we had three reigning N.A. champs on the
lake what with
Uncle Al (W3854) and Frank Goulay (Al's champion crew
who was in W938
with Hans). ... |

lovely crew relax before race 1. Note the nice touch on

bit of wind in most places and ... ... |
... Race 1 is
about to
get underway. |
