the 2nd Annual North American Cruising Rally
July 12-15, 2001 * Chaumont Bay, New York
Part 2: Sunday, July 15th
..
Sunday morning at 0700: Uncle Al rises early to greet a lovely morning but has been beaten to it
by Dick Harrington who is already enjoying the sailing possibilities of a lovely day.
...
Alert man that he is, Dick notices Uncle Al patrolling his campsite with his zoom lens!
...
Dick's inspection continues.
...
Two mariners greet each other as Dick heads back to breakfast.
...
Jake Maarse and an unidentified crew get their worms - so to speak (early bird..).
..
Renee and Mary Maarse: Nobody has a right to look this good when they've just gotten up!
...
Uncle Al tries out one of his new camping chairs by the water's edge while making notes about yesterday's cruise races
when Julia wakes up and interrupts with a card for Uncle Al's 60th birthday which Al is quietly observing today.
...
With a relatively short trip home to Oakville coming up, Julia gets to do some helming aboard SHADES on a perfect sailing Sunday...
...
... and she obviously has not lost the touch!
....
The camera changes hands (as does the tiller) - this turned out to be a fine morning for the spinnaker which had been neglected thus far!
...
A leisurely day as Jake Maarse and Bill Harkins check out André's boat.
...
Renee and Mary tolerate the camera one more time...
...
... before they get their first sail of the weekend...
...
... on a superb day.
...
And why should Jake and Mary watch where they're going when Renee is keeping such a professional lookout!!??
...
Chaumont Bay: a beautiful spot!!!
Our sincere thanks to Jim and Brenda Meara who suggested the venue and were the Rally's main organizers!!
