Saturday sailing pics - 1

A rising breeze created a bit of a chop on this lovely afternoon, and Emily had to work to get the Wayfarer camera to stay focused. Before race 1, Harold Whitcomb and Steve Herr (2304) got in a bit of practice, as did Uncle Al who is about to introduce Mallory to the spinnaker.
...

Nick Seraphinoff and his robust crew, Joe Blackmore, are licking their chops: this is the kind of breeze they like!!!
...

The Lightnings started before us.
...

Team Hilger checks out the pin end, while (l to r) Al, Nick and Tony Krauss with Mary Abel (4105) lurk and look but remain well clear of the Lightnings who are into their countdown.
...

Tony and Mary conserve their energy before race 1.
...

A bit of pre-race tuning.
...

Nick and Joe are eager to get underway.
...

Joe DeBrincat and Mike Anspach - each crewless - have teamed up in W1115 The Maltese Falcon.
...

Waiting to start race 1: (l to r) Harold, Steve, Al, Mallory
...

It was indeed, a wonderful, warm afternoon - typical of summer on Tawas Bay!
...

It will also be a first time racing for Kim Bergevin aboard W648 with Frank Goulay.
...

Paul Town meanwhile, already has the Warm Water regatta a month ago, under his belt, and is an "old hand" at sailing with his dad, Scott.
...

Tony (4105) and Al (3854) dawdle back and forth as the RC finetunes the windward-leeward course.
...

The Lightnings are off for their first(?) race as Al (r) sits and watches to see if he can learn anything.
...

As does Nick.
...

Bob FRick (3975) has arrived on the course with pick-up crew, Jeffrey McCann.
...

Nick (r) ponders a pin-end start.
...

Mallory and Al get ready to tack to starboard and sit while awaiting the start.
