on-shore candids from
the 2001 Wayfarer Midwinters
photos mostly by Uncle Al
...
The Thursday afternoon coaching session centred on how to set up a Wayfarer for racing: mast bend, rigging, and so forth
with SHADES as the main demo boat. Above, Ed Kraft (left) and Chuck Nelson discuss matters, with lovely Lake Eustis as a backdrop.

...
Greg Murphy smiles as Uncle Al refers to Murphy's Law once again.
Gary plans to buy a Wayfarer and join the ever more talented and growing LESC Wayfarer Fleet.

Geoff Edwards...
...
... his crew, George Waller, roll 'em up after Friday's pair of races in lovely winds!
...

Joe DeBrincat does his bit to meet the Friday afternoon challenge thrown our way by LESC Commodore, Bob DeWitt,
who thought that we'd never make a real dent in the keg of free draft beer....
...

Ellen Hill (left) and her husband, Frederick (right), bought a Wayfarer during the weekend, and will be a fine LESC Fleet addition. Ellen and her sailing team coach brother, Butch Minson from Maine (centre) sailed an excellent series in a borrowed W, placing second in the non-spinnaker fleet and 5th of 17 overall!
...

The coaches, Uncle Al (left) and Marc Bennett, take a well-earned break after two big wins on Friday!
...
Even wearing sun screen, UKWA WIC rep, Ralph Roberts, shows good colour after his first day in Florida.
...
Noelle De Brincat enjoying the warm sun!

Marwhil Gamit relaxes after some intensive spi practice aboard Joe De Brincat's MALTESE FALCON (W1115).

More of the De Brincat team: Joe's wife, Vicki, and daughter, Noelle.
...
Hubert Dauch, happy not to be in his Walled Lake, Michigan home!!!
...
Dr. Robert Hart, unable to sail last year's Midwinters due to health problems,
relaxes after scoring a couple of very respectable Friday finishes.

...

John and Dolores deBoer tidy up W7351 after a fine Friday performance.
...

Roger Shepherd and Joanne Kumpf: no sign of winter's lack of colour on these two already!!
...
Jim McIntyre (centre) with a pair of potential Wayfarers, Don Browning (left) and Ted Benedict.
...

Brand new Wayfarers from Charlotte, North Carolina: Richard Johnson and Michele Parish.
...
Regatta Chairman, Bob Brown, casts a benevolent eye over the proceedings which are running like clockwork!
...

Jenny Long, who came from the UK to sail with Ralph Roberts, does not look homesick!!
...
Nor does Ralph, for that matter!!!
...

Another good use for one of the three Mini-Twelves at LESC - on their trailers, they're bar height. LESC newsletter and webmaster, Tom Kidd (left) chats with Mike Murto. Tom took Al's camera out on his Mini-Twelve, and got some great shots on Saturday and Sunday, despite the lack of wind!
