Outer Banks - 1 |
|
Having
moved into our room in Nags Head and taken a quick walk across the
beach below it to touch the Atlantic, we rushed off to
see what the rest of the Outer Banks had to offer. It was
only early afternoon, so we figured we could take our
time. We had been thinking about taking a
ferry or two and continuing the scenic route via Hwy
12 and Cedar Island, but the ferries were closed for
the season except by special, expensive arrangement.
So we decided to drive as far as we could - to the
town of Hatteras.

One more
look onto Pamlico Sound from the abandoned terrace,
and then we continued our bar search. We went as far
south as we could,
confirmed the complete absence of running ferries and finally found a beer in a local hang-out where the waitress was the best view. .
