Race 3 - part 2
photos by Stuart Pursey

A nice, smooth rounding coming up for John and Dolores ...
...
... ahead of Doug (1366) and Robin (6071).
...
Brian Mills (4675) and Dave Hansman approach the leeward mark to end their first run.
...

The second run: Peter Rahn has pulled away into a nice lead, but ...
...

... the race for 2nd remains wide open.
...

(l to r) Bill, Roger, Al, Mark and Andrew
...

No room for error here, and ...
...

... John is coming up the inside as well. (l to r) John, Brian, George, Doug, Dave
...

Al (3854) briefly moves into 3rd ahead of Bill (yellow hull), Andrew (4610) and Roger while ...
...

... Mark gets a bit more comfortable in 2nd.
...

Passing the start-finish area: Going more to the right has not paid for Al (red spi) and Bill (r), as both John and Andrew (4610) have found better pressure nearer the rhumbline. Al and Marc are just gybing over to get some of that extra breeze, and also to get inside positioning as the leeward mark is coming up shortly. This move will ultimately lead to Al rescuing a 3rd from this race. Bill Fyfe will also come in from the far side and grab 4th place by the finish line.
...

Mark Taylor (l) caught in the act of pulling away, on his way to a 2nd behind Peter Rahn. John de Boer is on his way to 5th but inexplicably, Andrew and Mike (4610) ...
...

... who are looking so good here, will fall to 8th!
...

George chases Brian who could make flying easier for his spi
by sailing the boat flat like most of the leaders have been doing, and ...
...

... as Doug (1366) and Dave (282) are doing above.
...

Perfect downwind, light-air form for George and Mike, but ...
...

... will Doug and John (1366) get past by sailing deeper (closer to the rhumbline)?
Nope, George will hang on to edge out Doug.
