Still speaking of beady
eyes: these ones supervising ... ... |
... my munchies box on the
... ... |
... beach out in ... ... |
... front ... ... |
... of ... ... |
... the Inn. ... |
More laziness on ... ... |
... Wednesday afternoon. ... |
After a nice long walk up
the beach to the Duck
and back, Marc had had enough sun, and settled in for a
pre-dinner read. ... |
Thursday was departure day
with an overnight stop scheduled chez Mike and Dotty. But
first we wanted to check out ... ... |
... the other of the two
waters 'tween
which the Inn
is. ... |
Fishermen ... ... |
... absolutely ... ... |
... everywhere!! ... |
One last visit to the Duck for a ... ... |
... beer in the lovely 80°F
sunshine, and then it was time to start moseying on back towards Eustis where Dotty and Mike had promised us our annual sumptuous ... ... |
... Friday farewell
breakfast. Thanks, Mike and Dotty, for a delicious morning
feast, and for your kind and relaxed hospitality throughout our Midwinters stay. ... |
Friday morning at the club:
(l to r) Marc,
Mike, Dotty, Al. It only remained for us to pick up SHADES, and we ... ... |
... would be off on our
planned three-day trip home, mostly via I-75. ... |
I believe Marc took this
shot somewhere on the nice relaxing back-roads short-cut
suggested to us by Mike and Dotty for reaching I-75
north. I can't recall exactly where this was but do
recall that it got seriously colder than this - near
freezing - by the time we made it half-way through
Georgia. As we had hoped, we made it to Chattanooga,
just over the state line into Tennessee, in time for a
not-too-late dinner. The next morning, a frosty
Saturday, we were off early through the ...
... |
... mountains ... ... |
... of Tennessee and
Kentucky. ... |
By mid-afternoon, we had
made it most of the way through Ohio, to Lima, where we
had dinner in a fine steakhouse crowded with Saturday night locals, before we bedded down. ... |
At 0930 hrs on Sunday,
we crossed back into Canada via the bridge in Windsor.
We were very lucky with the weather on our entire trip
back: Horror stories of eight feet of snow in Oswego and
four more feet expected that day in the southeast corner
of Lake Ontario came over the radio, but all we got was
a bit of Friday rain as we passed Atlanta, and we ...
... |
... we
were home again shortly after noon on the Sunday without
any road salt caked on boat, trailer, cover or car!!! Marc
and I quickly stashed SHADES
in the garage, hung the mast up on the outside of the
garage, and our 2007 Midwinters was a treasured piece of
our history. And may I say that once again, that our
Midwinters 2007 odyssey was time and money extremely well
spent! The next Midwinters simply cannot come too soon for
Marc and me!!! |
