2005 North Bay Wayfarer Weekend

The racing fleet is expected to show up in Callander Bay any minute now, heading towards a finish right off the club here.

Windwalker - and what a wind to be walking in!!!
...

You can almost feel the cold breeze in this picture - a great time to be upstairs in the club dining room/bar.
...

Alistair Greig and his J24  J-cool flying the white spinnaker. Crew included Chris Greig and Ross Jamieson.
...

John Simmonds in his Kirby 25 Mosquito looks great as he nears the finish.
...

But wait! There will be ...
...

... entertainment to be had. A shifting gust collapses the spinnaker - "Sheet in!!!!"
...

Or perhaps ...
...

... not!!! Once the guy (windward sheet) comes loose, things can get very nasty, as even a healthy keel has some trouble beating the mechanical advantage of a spinny flying mostly at the top of the mast!!
...

So, boys! How shall we get this down??

... Affaire

Bill Scaife as seen from the upstairs screened-in porch at NBYC.
...

Terry Kelly and Cory Boyer have a well -reefed main but make up for that with two genoa halves in their Paceship 26 Soleil.
...

Don Merriman and crew Lori Jamieson, Chris and Jim Greig in Don's Santa Cruz 27 Plum Crazy.
...

Don has been banished to the transom (either that or he is trying to start his outboard).
...

Pat Onions' Tanzer 22 Miss Conduct limps into port with a broken mast, accompanied by Grant Churcher in the RC boat.
...

And yes, that is Fred Black of W fame crewing for Pat on that incredibly windy day.
